Greek cinema comes to Hobart

Two stellar films come to the State Cinema on 13 & 15 October 2026.

The Greek Community of Tasmania is excited to bring the Greek Film Festival to Hobart this year, with two films from the 2026 program screening for Tasmanian audiences.

This is an exciting step in expanding the Festival to Hobart, and we hope it’s just the beginning. With the support of local audiences this year, we’re looking forward to growing the program and bringing even more Greek films to Tasmania in 2027.

BEST FRIENDS FOREVER (Φίλοι Για Πάντα)

A contemporary Greek comedy about friendship, relationships and the chaos that unfolds when a wedding takes an unexpected turn. Written and directed by Konstantinos Mousoulis.

SAINT PAISIOS (Άγιος Παΐσιος)

The story of Arsenios Eznepidis, from his childhood following his family’s displacement from Cappadocia through his journey of faith and eventual monastic life on Mount Athos, where he became known as Saint Paisios.

Two films are coming to Hobart this year, and we want this to be the start of something much bigger.

Come along, support the Festival in its first year in Hobart and help the Greek Community of Tasmania build towards an expanded program with even more films in 2027.

Tickets are on sale now.
