Welcome to the 2024 Greek Film Festival in Brisbane!

The Greek Orthodox Community of St George Brisbane is excited to present this year's Greek Film Festival, showcasing a selection of the finest contemporary Greek cinema.

The festival opens on Wednesday, 23 October 2024, with the comedy Look Who’s Talking (Άκου Ποιος Μιλάει). On Friday, 25 October, we will screen The Murderess (Οι Φόνισσα), a highly acclaimed film based on the famous novel by Alexandros Papadiamantis, one of Greece's greatest 20th-century writers. This film has garnered multiple awards at prestigious festivals, including the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival, Shanghai International Film Festival, Thessaloniki International Film Festival, and the Hellenic Film Academy Awards.

The festival will close on Sunday afternoon, 3 November 2024, with The Aegean, filmed on Kythera and directed by Brisbane’s own Jacob Richardson. Richardson will attend the screening and participate in a Q&A session following the film.

With a diverse program offering something for every taste, the 2024 Greek Film Festival promises to be a cultural and cinematic experience to remember.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our venue partner, Five Star Cinemas New Farm, and our local sponsors for their generous support. We hope you enjoy the festival!
