16th Greek Film Festivalposted 1 November, 2009
This year's festival reported over 10,500 admissions in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. Festival favourites included: Bang Bang Wedding, First Time Godfather, Just Broken Up, S.E.X (Soula Ela Xana) and The Last Homecoming. Enticing a non-Greek audience was an objective for the festival this year, and securing the Cannes Film Festival Un Certain Regard award winner Dogtooth (dir. Yorgos Lanthimos), along with the very brave and unique A Woman’s Way: Strella (dir. Panos H Koutras) succeeded in introducing the Greek Film Festival to a brand new and otherwise unsuspecting audience. We look forward to presenting a bumper 17th Greek Film Festival in 2010. |
