Love According to Wogs
“Look, let’s go back to the manuscript… you tell us how angry Ella is, but I don’t feel her anger…”
Over a casual coffee at a café in the northern suburbs of Melbourne with her mentor, Christos Tsiolkas, ‘Good Greek Girl’ Koraly Dimitriadis launches into a heartfelt, bombastic diatribe.
Her spoken word/poetic rant challenges traditional notions of love, family and duty. She pointedly questions the sometimes-irreconcilable cultural difficulties that face young people from migrant backgrounds whose parents still cling to the cultural mores of the ‘old country’.
