GREEK-AUSTRALIAN FILMMAKERS CELEBRATED IN THIS YEAR'S PROGRAM

The Delphi Bank 24th Greek Film Festival will celebrate Greek-Australian filmmakers with festival guests Sotiris Dounoukos and Mary Zournazi and the 8th Greek Australian Short Film Festival.

Greek-Australian philosopher and filmmaker Mary Zournazi gets a dogs-eye view of modern Greece in her debut documentary Dogs of Democracy, an eye-opening exploration of humanity in the face of crisis. Director Mary Zournazi will attend screenings in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra to participate in Q&A sessions following the screenings.

Melbourne's screening of Sotiris Dounoukos' celebrated feature debut Joe Cinque's Consolation will be followed by a Q&A with the director himself. Based on Helen Garner’s book about the true crime story that shocked the nation, Joe Cinque's Consolation is a chilling trip into the dark recesses of a one-sided relationship taken to tragic extremes.

Now in its eighth year, the Greek Australian Short Film Festival will feature a program of celebrated and groundbreaking short films by Greek Australian filmmakers, with a cash prize awarded to the Best Australian Short.
