XENIA AND STRATOS DOMINATE HELLENIC FILM ACADEMY AWARDS

2014 Greek Film Festival favourites Xenia and Stratos swept the Hellenic Film Academy Awards in Athens on Monday night, taking home a collective 10 awards in all the major categories.

Panos H Koutras' cross-Greece romp Xenia won 6 awards, including Best Film, Best Director for Koutras, Best Supporting Actor for Angelos Papadimitriou, Best Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Costume Design, while Yannis Economides' moody crime noir Stratos won 4 awards, including Best Actor for Vangelis Mourikis, Best Supporting Actress for Vicky Papadopoulou, Best Music and Best Sound.

Maria Kallimani also took out the award for Best Actress for her performance in Athanasios Karanikolas' At Home, while Greek-Australian Xylouris Family documentary A Family Affair took home the award for Best Documentary.
